PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. PTAs serve as a type of forum where parents, teachers,
administrators and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts,
encourage community involvement, and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhoods.
PTAs support the school district by providing educational, social and cultural arts activities not available
through the regular school budget.
The Southbridge Elementary PTA serves the needs of ALL three elementary schools in Southbridge: Eastford Road School,
Charlton Street School and West Street School.

Today, our lives are busier than ever. We understand that not everyone can donate time during school hours
or be available after-school hours, but by becoming a PTA member, you are expressing your concern for our
children and their schools. Increased PTA membership helps influence decisions being made regarding our
children at local, state and national levels.
The Southbridge Elementary PTA welcomes both "supportive" and "active" membership. If you choose to be
a "supportive" member, your membership dollars alone makes a statement that you support the PTA and all
that it does for children here and across the country. If you prefer to be an "active" member, you can
attend PTA meetings and/or volunteer for various PTA sponsored activities.

EVERYONE! Membership in the Southbridge Elementary PTA is open to parents, teachers, grandparents,
aunts, uncles, etc., as well as interested community members and businesses.

Your membership empowers you with the knowledge that you support our schools, students, faculty members and staff.
By becoming a dues paying member of the Southbridge Elementary PTA, you are entitled to vote (one vote per membership)
at PTA Meetings. During these meetings, PTA business is discussed including: upcoming events (field trips, book fairs,
fundraisers, special performances etc.), requests for PTA funding, and other topics of interest.
In addition, every person who joins the Southbridge Elementary PTA automatically becomes a member of both the
Massachusetts and National PTAs. Individual members have access to a number of exclusive benefits including:
- Online parenting resources from the National PTA at www.pta.org
- E-newsletters
- Exclusive National PTA member benefits and sponsor offers
- Discounts from companies such as: Barnes and Noble, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Southwest Airlines
